The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod is composed of roughly 6,100 congregations and over two million people. We believe that the Scripture teaches that there is one God eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus, true God and true man, fulfilled the law of God in our place and died on the cross to pay the penalty of our sin. We believe that Jesus rose bodily from the dead and lives for us and all people who believe in Him as their Lord and Savior. Our faith is summarized in these five parts:
*Grace Alone – Salvation is wholly the work of God alone. Human beings are unable to perform any good work in order to please God and be accepted by Him. Human beings have broken the law of God (10 commandments), but Christ kept all the commandments in our place and
died the death we deserved to bring us to God.
*Faith Alone – Saving faith does not involve simply an intellectual understanding to certain biblical truths, but believing and resting on Christ and His righteousness.
*Scripture Alone – The Bible, comprised of both the Old and New Testaments, is God-breathed revelation which alone teaches all that is necessary for salvation from sin and forms the basis by which all Christian conduct must be measured.
* Christ Alone – Salvation is accomplished by the work of Christ alone. His sinless life and substitutionary death alone are sufficient for our acceptance by a Holy God.
* For God’s Glory Alone – We live our entire lives before the face of God, under His authority and for his glory alone.
